Formation of the Black Country Bowls Club
in 1991/1992 a group of people attended the bowling sessions run by The Crystal Centre in their projectile hall.
At one Friday evening session in March 1992, Ted Wright expressed a wish to see the group properly run and put on a more organised footing with the future in mind.
A meeting was subsequently held in the Centre's lecture room on Thursday 26th March 1992 by members of the "Crystal Bowling Club" and "Friday Indoor Bowls Club"; Bernard Griffiss initially taking the chair.
A discussion prompted a proposal to form an official bowling club, which was unanimously accepted.
Several names were considered for the club; after discussion a vote was taken and "The Black Country Bowls Club" emerged.
Officials were then voted on and elected:-
The newly elected Chairman stressed that although the main aim of the club was bowling, an active social side should not be ignored. Thus the Club in its original form came into being.
